2013 Year in Review

Every year, I hear that John Lennon song “Happy Christmas” and the first verse haunts me:

“So this is Christmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun”

Time goes by so quickly and life is so full. It is easy to think back and wonder, “What on earth did I do this year?” Because we feel reflection is important, we’ve decided to share with you, our year in review.

cary's spine

We found out that Cary has SEVERE scoliosis. This is an X-Ray of him standing straight up. Hard to believe, we know.

We had our deck extended. This made the girls very happy.

We also had some windows moved and a sliding glass door installed.

Unfortunately, it’s still under construction. Everything is in place (there’s no longer a giant hole) and needs drywall. We are hoping to get that done soon.

We completed our first Tough Mudder! It was one of the hardest challenges we’ve ever faced.

Can you believe I made it through 10 miles of mud and obstacle course and then did this in my kitchen?

I stood on the cushioned bench from our dining room table to reach something on top of the pantry and the whole thing flipped over. I smacked my head on an end table nearby. I don’t think I’ve cried that hard since I was a child.

Cary kept my spirits up in the emergency room. Thankfully I didn’t need stitches, the glue hurt almost as badly.

We celebrated 7 years of marriage!

Cary made a huge accomplishment!

We even have proof!

We are all very proud of him!

We celebrated Halloween by dressing up for the first time in TEN YEARS!

2013-10-12 20.51.30 HDRHe was a boxer and I was his “Ring Girl” get it???

That’s OK, nobody else did. WE THOUGHT IT WAS HILARIOUS!

We met some celebrities.

seth.jpg Seth Meyers. We met him after he did standup at the Chicago Theater.

benplatt.jpgBen Platt after Book of Mormon. He was in Pitch Perfect and is currently playing Elder Cunningham on Broadway. (GO SEE BOOK OF MORMON!)

luke.jpgLuke Francis (Ashlocke) You might not know who he is, right now. That’s fine. Eventually you will. He’s hilarious!

We went to Vegas in November.

terpwine.jpgFor a work conference! 🙂

We had a really fun time.

vegasbomb.jpgBut, we realized 5 days is WAY too long to be in Vegas!

To celebrate the Holiday Season, Cary had a colonoscopy.

colonoscopy.jpgWhich was actually fantastic because we found out that his Crohn’s is in remission!

Then about 2 weeks later he had an epidural for the bulging disc in his back.

epidural.jpgWhich didn’t really work. We’re hopeful that other treatment will improve his situation.

Thanks for catching up with us! Have a wonderful 2014!
